Team Jenson Wins Big at Southridge

Jenson USA has a team that just keeps on winning! Huges props to all the racers competing and putting in the blood, sweat and gears (ouch) to even get to the starting line. Racing takes dedication but the payoff is awesome.

Two Jenson USA team riders were crowned season champions and two others received trophies at the end-of-the-year awards banquet for the Southridge racing series.

Timothy Pickett earned his first place jersey for winning the expert men 27-34 cross country category. Rod Leveque earned his in the sport men 27-24 group.

Mark Mumea took second place in the same category, and Dean Long was awarded for his fourth place finish in sport men 35-44.

Srcawards

But the biggest winner of all at the Dec. 16 banquet may have been Mike Barosko, bike builder and mechanic at Jenson’s Ontario retail outlet. Mike took home a #1 jersey for winning the expert 19-26 downhill division, and then rode away with the day’s biggest raffle prize

a motorcycle.

Mike

Southridge is the best all-around mountain bike race series in Southern California. Organizers hosted eight cross country and nine downhill races last season on courses tucked behind and among homes in suburban Fontana, Calif. Super D and 4x races are also regularly on the schedule.

Thanks to Donny and his crew for a great season and a terrific year-end banquet.

The 2008 Southridge Winter Series is just around the corner. The first races are Jan. 12 & 13. If you’re thinking of giving racing a try, Southridge is a challenging and fun place to begin.

Jenson’s Ontario retail store is only a few miles away, and has everything you need to get started. We hope to see you out there next year.

Jenson USA Race Results

The 2007 cross country race season has officially come to an end for the Jenson USA racing team, and the guys are looking forward to a couple of months of eating turkey and resting their tired legs.

The last two races of the season were a pair of perennial fall favorites, the Mt. SAC Fat Tire Classic in Walnut, Calif. on Nov. 4 and the Southridge 16th Annual Challenge in Fontana, Calif. on Nov. 17.

Tim Pickett won the expert men 27-34 class at Southridge with the second-fastest time of the day on the 20-mile course. He edged teammate Rod Leveque by a mere four seconds. Rod charged hard to catch Tim with about three miles remaining, but Tim broke loose up the final climb and held off the challenge across the finish line. Rod took 2nd with the third fastest time for experts across all age groups. Mark Mumea, competing in his first race as an expert, took 4th in the tough class. Dean Long finished in 3rd place in the sport Men 35-44 class after contesting for the lead throughout the race.

The team had similar success two weeks earlier at Mt. SAC.

Tim, Rod and Daniel Perez swept the podium in the expert men 30-34 class. Mark took 2nd in the sport men 30-34 group, and Dean finished 3rd in sport men 35-39.

Jenson USA co-sponsored the Mt. SAC race and was well represented on the fun course by a huge contingent of employees who turned out to compete.

Mike Barosko (bike builder and mechanic) finished 4th in the sport men 19-24 group. Steve Mooney (Ontario Retail Store) finished 8th in sport men 45-49, with Rudi Eddy (Retail) close behind in 10th. Luis Razo (Corona Retail Mgr.) finished 10th in the sport men 30-34 class.

Wayne Sharp (Ontario Retail Mgr.) finished 8th in beginner men 35-39 riding his vintage, 20-year-old hardtail with thumb shifters. Nick Boswell (Ontario Retail Store) finished 8th in beginner men 19-24. In the beginner Clydesdale class, Scott McLean (Purchasing/Warehouse Mgr.) finished 5th, Lindsay Mitchell (Ontario Retail Store) finished 8th and Rafael Cuevas (Warehouse Super.)  finished 10th.
